Where do fish hide - Tips from Cap'n Ron for a Successful Fishing Adventure

One of the most common questions I hear from those just beginning their fishing journey is, “Where are the fish hiding, and what’s the best way to find them?” Just dropping a line into the water and hoping for the best can lead to disappointing results, especially for those new to the hobby. So let’s take a closer look at some key tips to elevate your angling game, for both beginners and experienced fishermen alike.

Work Smarter – Not Harder

In the past, much of the most successful fishing was done around closely guarded locations for their known tendency to attract fish, whether for shelter, food or breeding. Today, however, things are quite different. Modern anglers use the power of technology to help them locate those ideal environments, like underwater structures we wouldn’t be able to see otherwise.

The Best Places to Look

Fish don’t wander aimlessly, they’re attracted to things that help them to survive, a fact that we can use to help us find them. By using sonar and other electronic equipment, we can locate the underwater structures they congregate around, things like submerged trees, vegetation, and even sunken boats. Then, once we’ve located a likely hiding spot, we can use “fish finders” to see if anyone is home.

Fishing Texas Lakes

While Lake Fork is my home base, I have experience fishing on most major lakes in east Texas. So if you have a favorite lake you want to concentrate on, I can help you there as well.
